Bjursas

The Resort

The village of Bjursas is situated in the County of Dalarna some 250 kilometres north of Stockholm and a short distance from Falun, the County town.

The ski centre is situated about 2.5 kilometres from the village itself and has typical Swedish style accommodation cabins situated at the foot of the slopes, offering doorstep skiing Scandinavian style!

The Skiing
The ski season here starts in early December and continues through to after the Easter holidays. There are a total of 18 slopes including a snow boarding "street", accommodating newcomers through to experienced skiers.

Bjursas is an excellent resort for beginners and is snow guaranteed.

You will start at the main ski area, a short walk from the accommodation area, and once you have begun to master the beginners slope - Bjurrebacken, you will be able to ski back to your cabin and start from there each morning.

The choice of slopes means that your group will be able to progress quickly and safely

Accomodation

Bjursas has a series of traditional Scandinavian style cabins on the Stugby slopes of Bjursas.

There are three types of cabin easily accommodation from 4 up to 7 students, and all are of an excellent standard.  Each has its own small kitchen with fridge and microwave.

They are fitted with a table and chairs as well as a toilet and shower. All cabins have a TV and the larger types accommodating 5 and seven students will be fitted with a sauna.

A buffet breakfast and a two course evening meal will be served at the excellent restaurant only 50 metres away from the cabins.

Alternative accommodation is available at the Active Stay Hotel in Borlänge and in Falun itself.

Après Ski

There is a wide choice of après ski facilities on site and close by that will appeal to UK school groups. As we have already mentioned, alcohol is not a problem as your students will not have access to it.

The restaurant in Bjursas has a large conference room above which can be used to watch DVDs or hold quizzes and serves as an excellent place to meet each evening. We will be able to hold discos here which would be attended by students from the local school in the village - all eager to practice their English!

In the complex there is also a swimming pool, Jacuzzi and wellness centre. There are hot tubs outside which add a certain Scandinavian flavour to the holiday - especially for those brave enough to roll in the snow afterwards!

Bjursas also has a small cinema a short walk away and the County town of Falun, 20 minutes away by coach or bus, offers ice skating and bowling. We can also organise ice fishing and skating locally on the lake by the complex.
